The At-Large Chapter Enacts the Missing Federationist Formation
By Ed Bible, President
The members of the At-Large chapter of the NFB of SC decided to start a new program called the Missing Federationist Formation. The inspiration came from the US Air Force’s Missing Man Formation, which honors a fallen pilot by flying with one plane missing in the V formation. The Missing Federationist is someone who should be in the Federation, but for whatever reason is not. . To keep us ever mindful of the need to cultivate and nurture current and future members, we have agreed to care for a plant in our respective homes. We will nourish our body, our mind and our soul with food and love of the Federation. The plant will remind us that we all need to take care of ourselves, others, and the Federation with care, proper nutrition, comfort, and encouragement. David Rebocho, President of the newly formed NFB of SC Sports and Rec Division, and an avid gardener, has taken lead on this project. He will assess and determine which plant we will grow and teach us how best to care for it. This plant will grow with love and personal attention. Much like if you see or hear of someone going through vision loss, the plant will remind us to tell them about the NFB OF SC and let them know there is a whole new world opening up to them. With the support of us, they too will grow and prosper. Those who do not know us are all missing Federationists. We must find them.
Also, the At-Large chapter hosts a cooking class the first Wednesday of each month on Zoom. David is excited about using what is grown and learning to incorporate it into our cooking program. This is a project we can participate in together no matter where you live.
Come grow with us.
